BTS Dropped 'NORMAL' and Broke a Spotify Record on Day One Because Obviously

'NORMAL,' the second single off their fifth album 'ARIRANG,' set a new spotify single-day streaming record for a k-pop track right after its july 17 release. the bar was already on the floor for everyone else and they lowered it further.

a song literally called 'NORMAL' has no business behaving like this. BTS put out the second single from 'ARIRANG' on july 17 and by the end of that same day it had set a new single-day streaming record on spotify for a k-pop track. the title is a lie and we are all complicit.

context for the newer girlies: 'ARIRANG' arrived march 20, went straight to no. 1 on the billboard 200, and became the most-streamed k-pop album in spotify history. so no, this wasn't a lucky comeback week. this is just their operating temperature now.

and yes there's a music video, because they were never going to let a record-setting single sit there undressed. the timeline processed all of it with the composure of a group chat at 3am.

seven men, one two-syllable title, an entire streaming platform rewritten in under 24 hours. we are so back, and honestly we never left.

LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT Just Went Platinum in Japan and the Streams Are Genuinely Unhinged

LE SSERAFIM's 'CRAZY' and ILLIT's 'Almond Chocolate' both blew past 100 million streams to snag RIAJ platinum. two HYBE girl groups, one very cooked Japanese streaming chart.

it's giving domination. the RIAJ — Japan's official music body, keeping receipts since forever — just handed out platinum certs, and two of them went to HYBE girlies: LE SSERAFIM's 'CRAZY' and ILLIT's 'Almond Chocolate.' both crossed 100 million streams in Japan. one hundred MILLION.

for context on how insane that is: RIAJ hands out silver at 30 million streams, gold at 50 million, and platinum at a cool 100 million. so these two didn't tiptoe over the line, they blew the door off it.

'CRAZY' has been a certified menace since 2024 and clearly refuses to stop charting, while ILLIT's 'Almond Chocolate' — a 2025 Japanese single, adorable name, deadly numbers — proved the rookies are not playing either.

Japan officially certified: both groups ate. no crumbs, only platinum plaques.
