RIIZE Said 'Do Your Dance' and Took the Rookie Label Off Themselves

second mini 'II' landed mid-June — six tracks, led by a brisk hip-hop-tinged title. it's their first real comeback in about seven months and they came back sharper.

RIIZE named the mini 'II' and then made it an entire statement. six tracks, out june 15 at 6 p.m. KST, fronted by 'Do your dance' — an uptempo thing built on hip hop drums and electronic pop gloss that does not permit sitting still.

the rollout was a month of psychological warfare. the schedule poster went up may 22, then individual teasers rolled out one member per day from may 25 through may 30 — wonbin, eunseok, anton, shotaro, sungchan, sohee, in that order — before the mv teaser hit june 14 and the whole thing dropped the next evening.

the tracklist doesn't waste a slot either: 'SOAR' opens, 'Do Your Dance' takes the wheel, and 'D-D-Done,' 'Overdrive' and 'Like a Bomb' keep it moving before 'In a Loop' closes it out. six songs, no filler, no notes.

it's their first proper comeback in months and the difference is audible — sharper, more assured, leaning all the way into the performance-driven thing SM has been building the six of them toward since day one.

the rookie era is over, bestie. people can stop calling them the new boys now. 📈

Taemin Set a Date for 'Soft Violence' and the Title Alone Has Me in a Chokehold

the SHINee legend picked august 31, labeled it PHASE 1, and vanished back into the fog. we have five weeks to prepare and it will not be enough.

no bc the way this man simply says two words, drops a date, and disappears. taemin has locked in august 31 for 'Soft Violence' and i have not recovered. the title is doing more emotional damage than most people's entire discographies.

the receipts, bestie: august 31, 6 p.m. KST. a teaser video went up at midnight KST on july 23 and told us essentially nothing, which is obviously the point. mysterious king behavior. we got vibes and a font and we are expected to survive on that for over a month.

but the detail that has the timeline unwell is the phrase PHASE 1. phase. ONE. that is not the language of a man putting out one release and going home. that is the language of a multi-part rollout engineered to keep us financially and emotionally destabilized until further notice.

and honestly he's earned the right to be cryptic. taemin has been doing this since he was a literal child and still shows up with concepts nobody else would survive attempting. 'soft violence' as a phrase is already doing numbers in my head — it's giving contradiction, it's giving restraint, it's giving him.

five weeks. clear your august 31. i fear we are not ready and i fear it will be worth it.
