(G)I-DLE Went Latin-Pop on 'Gimme Dat Love' and the Latinas Are Claiming Them, Sorry
ninth mini 'We Made' dropped July 6 with a breezy Latin-pop lead. the song is about that split-second of being completely drawn to someone — a feeling we're all pretending we don't know.
(G)I-DLE went latin pop and the latinas are simply taking custody, sorry, we don't make the rules. 'Gimme Dat Love' fronts 'We made,' their ninth mini album, which arrived july 6 at 6 p.m. kst with a music video attached.
the track is built around that specific half-second where you're suddenly, undeniably pulled toward another person. no thoughts, no plan, pure gravity. putting a genre that warm underneath a feeling that unhinged is a genuinely evil choice.
they'd already softened us up with pre-release 'Crow' in june, then ran a solid month of concept photos, a mood trailer, a track list and THREE separate mv teasers before the drop. the rollout was a psyop and it worked on all of us.
ninth mini. miyeon, minnie, soyeon, yuqi and shuhua are long past the point where anyone gets to call this a phase, and they're still switching genres like it costs nothing.
neverlands, the almost-perreo era has arrived. behave. (do not.) 🔥

'WhyKiiiKiii' arrives august 10 and the teaser site issues you an actual boarding pass. every other marketing team should be taking notes right now.
so KiiiKiii are coming back on august 10 with 'WhyKiiiKiii' and instead of a normal schedule poster they built an entire fake travel agency. i'm serious. there is a website. it has a functioning booking flow. we have entered a new era of rollout.
here's the bit: you put in your name, a departure point, a date and a ticket type, and the site hands you back a boarding pass with WhyKiiiKiii listed as the destination. i filled it out immediately and so will you. no bc why is this better designed than most actual airlines i have flown.
the whole thing sits on a six-destination tour map, with each member illustrated as a tour guide working her own retro theme — heavy Y2K, vintage-advertisement energy, the kind of art direction that makes you want to print it and frame it. the site's whole invitation is to “discover the answer,” and it's promising six summers with six guides, one per member.
promo kicked off july 19 and the concept ties straight back to the album, which is apparently about working out why you should stay exactly as you already are. a record about self-trust, packaged as a holiday you can't physically attend. it's giving depth. it's giving girls who read.
august 10. boarding pass in hand. i fear this rollout quietly raised the bar for everybody else and they haven't noticed yet.
