Korean word (막내) meaning the youngest person in a group, family, or organization. In K-pop, the maknae is the youngest member of an idol group, often given special treatment by older members and fans alike.

Example

“Jungkook is the maknae of BTS — despite being the youngest, he's often considered one of the most talented members.”

막내 (makknae) — the baby of the group. Maknaes are often babied by older members (called 'oppas' or 'unnies') and are known for surprising fans with how mature or talented they are despite their age.
